A favorite neighborhood hangout serves up epic burgers with kama'aina flare
Waikiki just got
Shacked! After two decades of being tucked away in the
outskirts of Oahu's residential shopping centers, The
Shack is ready for the big time with the opening of
its new location in the Waikiki Trade Center. Always
a favorite of the locals, and voted one of Hawaii's
Best Sports Bars, The Shack is known throughout Hawaii
for its well-priced food and drink menu, energetic staff,
and fun atmosphere.
"We are thrilled
to bring a local favorite like The Shack to Waikiki.
The Shack, is a place where our staff knows your name
and what you drink, and we will continue to offer the
same kind of local style service which has made us successful
for the past 21 years," said Brendan Burchfiel,
owner of The Shack Waikiki. "The laid-back, friendly
atmosphere has always appealed to our residents and
I encourage all who visit Waikiki to stop in and experience
Hawaii in the same way the locals do."
The Shack Waikiki is
by far the largest of all locations, boasting a 9,000
square foot space complete with a dance floor, billiards,
and various arcade and video game machines. Décor
in the restaurant consists of ohia wood railings, lauhala
and bamboo thatching, tiki torches, and indoor waterfalls,
all of which create a fun Hawaiian style atmosphere.
The Shack Waikiki will
feature a variety of sporting events aired daily on
one of the many LCD flat screens located throughout
the restaurant. On Friday and Saturday nights, The Shack
lights up its stage and dance floor to feature the live
and local sound of the island's best musical talent.
Chef Michael Leslie,
former executive chef at Roy's Restaurant, will oversee
The Shack's culinary operations. In addition to the
regular menu items, Chef Leslie will offer a chef's
special menu to insure that patrons experience real
local food at its best.
The Shack Waikiki offers
a wide variety of appetizers, salads, local plate lunches,
sandwiches and burgers. Two signature items offered
on the menu include the famous "Shack Burger"
for $7.20 served with a Louisiana hot link, or local
style with a Portuguese sausage, and the Thunder Humper,
an open-faced chili burger topped with cheese and onions,
$7.25. The menu also features the freshest local fish
- caught daily by The Shack's own fishing charter boat,
The Shack Attack.
The first Shack opened
in Playa Del Ray, California in 1972 and the second
in Kailua, Hawaii in 1987. Subsequent locations on the
island of Oahu included Hawaii Kai, and Mililani. Success
of The Shack in Hawaii has far surpassed its mainland
locations due to the execution of a winning marketing
strategy, loyal customer base, and continuous effort
to actively participate in the community. The Shack
Waikiki is open from 11a.m.- 2 a.m. daily. Validated
parking is available at the Waikiki Trade Center.
